Biography:

USURPER was formed in 1992 by Diabolical Slaughter (Vokills) and Rick “Rigor” Scythe (guitars).  They longed to create music that captured the feel of true crushing heavy metal in the tradition of the Black/Death/Thrash Metal Gods of the 80’s.  In 1993, Apocalyptic Warlord (drums) joined the duo, and USURPER was ready to slay the Metal underground.
The band recorded their first studio demo, “Visions from the Gods”, in the wretched summer heat of 1994. Over 1300 tapes were sent out, and 3 different pressings were made. This demo showcased the band’s dark leather and spikes metal in a time when most bands in the underground were copying the Scandinavian Black Metal trend, or rehashing the worn out Florida style of Death Metal. Usurper stood out from the flock of pretenders, playing Metal in a way that was once forgotten.
After adding Necromancer (bass) to the line-up, their heralded debut CD, “Diabolosis”, was released in 1995 by Head Not Found, taking the underground by storm and wrecking the necks of metal fanatics worldwide.  That same year, Usurper signed with NECROPOLIS RECORDS and the “Threshold of the Usurper” MCD was released. This EP was to be a prelude to their 2nd full-length album, however, Usurper then parted ways with Apocalyptic Warlord. It was a mutual decision that had to be made, as the rest of the band

wanted to bring Usurper to the next level by way of touring. Although much of the material was written already, they decided it was in the bands best interest to find a new drummer before recording the second album. In mid-1996, USURPER played with a session drummer for a US tour with DARK FUNERAL.  While only 4 shows, the tour proved to be a success.  Shortly after this -enter Dave Hellstorm, who had previously been a member of the black/thrash metallers FUNERAL NATION, now USURPER’s new skinbasher.  In July 1998, they finally recorded their long awaited 2nd album:  “USURPER II: Skeletal Season”.  Containing 10 symphonies of skull-splitting heavy metal in the traditional USURPER style, “…Skeletal Season” blends the ancient art of black/thrash and hints of traditional metal with wicked dark rock and bizarre experimental elements.   Usurper shall embark on a quest to mass murder metal fans across the globe in ’98, playing some select US Metal Festivals, one with the immensely popular CRADLE OF FILTH, before touring Mexico and being the first U.S. band from Necropolis to rage across Europe.

The legendary demo from the band of Chicago: USURPER  “Visons from God’s” has been re – edited by Necropolis Recs. presenting live themes (Blood Passion) and rare like Soulstalker (original) or “Wolflord” (Night Powler Version) throughout out its historical music. What else to say about this demo that has not been said; that it was Usuper who gave him life to a style almost forgotten like is  Celtic Frost, which is the band more respected of the scene Black American, that still continues been Underground, its last album Usurper II: Skeleta season was one of the best albums that Necropolis has realized and the voice of Diabolical Slaughter every time is more infernal and similar to T.
