Summoning was formed by Silenius and Protector in the early 90's as a side  projectof ABIGOR .SUMMONING quickly became a massive force of it's own. Their 1st two cd's "Lug Burz" were released in 1995, and received critical acclaim from worlwide media and fans alike. 1997 saw the release of the massive "Dog Guldur" cd which catapulted SUMMONING to the forefront of the majestic ambient black metal scene. 
Shortly there after, the forgotten song's of Dog Guldur were released on the "Nightshade Forests" MCD. All of SUMMONING's material is lirycally based on the writing's  of Tolkien,

This is summoning's 5^th CD and eventhough I'm not an expert on their discography; their sound hasn't changed a lot. All nine songs (65 minutes ) are dominated by a majestic Keyboard atmosphere in which this Australian band bases its sound. Semi-medieval atmospheres show all along this CD, some sad melodies keep reviving Mr. Tolkien's work since this is the band's lyric tendency. Vocals are traditional for this kind of music blended with some female vocals. Drumming (which I think is programmed) makes it a little dull.For those interested in an atmosphere filled with feeling, this is the right CD.
