Tony Speak us about of all changes and lastest problems in Vital Remains:
a)What happened with Osmose Prod.?
We left Osmose because Herve is a fucking RIP OFF.He has not given us
any royalties. He only cares about making money.Thats why Marduk and Immortal
left aswell.Fuck Osmose!!!
b) Why Joe Lewis is out of Vital remains.
Because he was not into it anymore.
c) Why motive Vital Remains canceled the tour 2000
in Europe?
Because things were not handled properly, like transportation for us and
a place to stay. So we were forced to come home sooner than we had wished
to.
Who was the bassist in your tour with DEICIDE? Do
you have a new Bassit or yet is searching bassist ?
We had Zion on bass from the band Disinter on the Us tour with Deicide.
We have a new official bass player .His name is Kelly Conlon of the legend
band Death and Monstrosity .He is a killer bass player and has added so
much more brutality to the band.
Forever Underground was kinda comeback for Vital
Remains , due to the little promotion of "Into Cold Darkenss". Why Is
this Lp so little Known? Have you thought About of re-release?
Because Music For Nations did not promote us like they should have. They
were more interested in there other bands like Paradise Lost. hahaha.
Where are they now? HAHAH. I wish it would be re-releast for all the new
fans to hear.
Vital Remanis comes from Rhode Island. I'm a fan
of H.P Lovecraft work who was born there, and spoke to us about this region.
What can you tell us about the magic of the landscape of Rhode Island,
has it influenced Vital Remains In some way.
Yes in many ways it has influenced me in my writting. I offten would visit
HP's grave for inspiration. Its a really good experience to go there.
Most of the Lyrics on Forever Underground are Joe
Lewis. However in the Dawn Of The Apocalypse ne is not credited with any
of the lyrics. Why This? and Why was Thorn who write almost all the Lyrics?
|
Joe
did not even play on the last two records. Because he could not even
play
his bass. He was always high on weed. And as for the lyrics on Dawn, Dave
wrote most of them not Thorns, Dave should get most of the credit. Thorns
only added a little at the end.
What happened with Thorn, his work in D.O.T.A was
very notable?
Thorns was concerned more with the party life then the music one.
He is very young so this is expected. He would rather do nothing with
himself and his life, what a waste!
Concerning to the lyrics , your position on dark
subjects, and satanism tend towards the individuals strength. Do you continue
this line of thought in your next album?
Yes the new album will be more brutal than Dawn and very angry towards
Christianity. It will be our best album to date.
Why Decided included in the lirycs of D.O.T.A phrases of Goethe, Freud,
Sade and specially the phrase of Joseph Goebbel in your track title, Dawn
Of The apocalypse?
This was Thorns idea not mine. I did not even know he did it until i got
the album.
Do you write the lyric of Forever Underground -song-,
a hymn in the underground scene, the lyric is full of hate and wrath,
say me the motive for to write this song?
Well i coined the term Forever underground, along time ago. So i wanted
to write about being true and proud to be underground. So that is were
the concept came to write that song.
I believe speaking about satanism and dark subjects
ha a lot do with the rebellion of the individual against his/her surroundings.
Was there any event in your life that brougth out such anger and rebelliousness?
I was born this way. Since i was a child i think i have hated the church.
I remember throwing things at the cross that was hanging in my room. Until
one day i burned it and got a lot of shit from my parents. HAHAHA. Its
not a trend for me !HAHAHA.
If i'm not wrong you are the only member who has
stayed with the band all these 12/13. You did ever thing about of putting
an end to the band?
I am the last original member of the band. I have written all
the music since the beginning so I am the creating force
|
behind
the band. My band is my life music is everything to me. I never thought
of giving up because thats not me. It would be Un-Satanic to quit!
When Jeff was once again with Vital Remains do you
think that the line-up problem is over?
Jeff is not with us anymore, again things did not work out and he could
not sing the new material so we had to let him go.
So you never know with us who will be playing for us. If you dont work
and keep up you will be left behind. Only the strong shall survive!
Do you perform these solos (including Forever Underground
Solos) live?
Yes we perform all the solo's live but with distortion.
Have you found a lead guitar for your live shows?
Yes we have Ron Death on lead guitar now for about a year. He did Europe,
Mexico and the USA tour with Deicide. He shreds. Nowadays
originality and unique sound are strange features to find in a band. Vital
Remains has achieved both. What is the secret to achieve this?
I dont follow trends, i stay true to the music, and i never
give up.
I think that one of the actual trends is to play
covers . Vital Remains released a whole C:D full of them. I think the
intention is good, but didn't you think about how saturated the is?
I have always done covers for exposure plus i like the bands we have covered.
I wanted to pay my respects to some of those bands . But i agree that
things have gotten to saturated.
Don Of The Dead from NUNSLAUGHTER say that: "The
majority of Death Metal music fans in the USA are idiots. They know nothing
of the history of metal and worse yet they do not even care. The true
fans of Metal are in Europe." What is your opinion?
Well thats his opinion, mine is that the US is getting bigger in the metal
scene and that's good. Just look at how many metal fest's there were last
year here in the US.
Thanks Tony for your answers, final words and Forever
Underground.
Best of luck to you Jimmy and your web zine and radio show. Hails to all
the hordes of death/black metal everywhere. Hope to see you all on tour.
Hail Satan!!!...Forever underground!!!
