This Australian horde is the most obscure expression of Bizarre, doom ,technical and mystical death metal. Read this interview to know what their guitarist /vocal The Serpent Inquisitor (guitar/vocals) thinks about all this, and support this cruel legion.

Greetings Serpent Inquisitor, "Harbringer" is a great work emerged from one the rawest, fastest underground scenes in the planet: Australia's. Do you think Harbringer has brought you the recognition you deserve from this great scene?
It has not yet brought fully our fruits, yet seems so very capable in doing so, and is! I agree, Australia always had the penchant for that which is ugly and greatness has always been amongst us, but only recently has it been given a spotlight. A little late forthcoming, yet better than never. StarGazer is often identified with the Australian scene besides others, and it warms my heart to read interviews by fellow Australian bands, and even ones we know not so well, whom refer to StarGazer as definitive listening. Unfortunately, 'Harbringer' is limited in its length and does not fully display our variety, even by the age of songs on thus said CD. But it is certainly a great start.
Each Stargazer's song is different for instance, "Perennial fire" is different from "Abstract flames burn white". Is it difficult to change from one song to another?
Not to any degree of impossibility obviously. This is somewhat deliberate, and not, as we enjoy a wide range of metal and non-metal, so inspiration and influence from variety's walk is natural to us. On the other (left) hand, it has become quite a challenge not to complete one big repetetive circle, considering over two albums of material has been written since 'Harbringer'! It is at this point that bands can risk changing style for sake of avoiding repetition, but so far we have achieved continued variation and have some tracks that exceed our previous brutality.
Your lyrics are influenced by the Veda. Where does this influence come from? Besides Singapore's Rudra very few bands reflect this influence.
My lyrical endeavours are influenced by the veritable mountain of olden texts, the knowledge of ages gone, the words of sages and the lineage of our current races inhabiting this menagerie and zoo we know as Earth. The influence, my friend, is inherent! I, as well as the others of StarGazer, and select individuals the world over, seek exactly that, via their own stream. The Mcd 'Harbringer' is quite vague lyrically and very symbolic, dealing very much with 'animal instinct', the emotional flux that we associate to animals where mirrored.
Your cover art work is not common. What does it mean?
It is a tapestry print of a divine Rishi riding a chariot that soars the air! As reports in various ancient texts the world over, these machines were employed by many lords, kings and gods to traverse that distance which would pain and age any fit man to traverse on foot and boat! I believe it is swift becoming obvious to even the most stoutly sceptic that the 'ancients' may well have been more technologically advanced (though wielding a different technology to ours today) than this age.
Tell us about the lyrics of "Totalitarian Wormholes"
It symbolizes the volitility of hate and it's impressions of despair, vorticing to hate once more. A deeply rooted, ancestral anger that pervades the blood and obsesses the mind, spirit and contorts the body to its purposes. I express that pent anger can fuel sickness to ones body, make one stronger, and even be passed on through blood to siblings.
The other band on your split C.D is Invocation. Did you help in choosing Invocation for this split? Have you shared a stage with them?
I received a rehearsal of Invocation and become hopelessly enamoured by it and recommended they send a recording to Dies Irae Productions. It was soon thereafter that Falmi suggested the collaboration, and we heartily agreed. No we have not shared a stage with them..it would be too crowded! Seriously, no, as we are lacking a little drummer boy. But we have played on the same bill as Invocation with Martire (the two animating StarGazer are also part of Martire today), close enough.
This split C.D is kind of a tribute to two great cultures. Stargazer'sto Hindu culture and its sacred texts, and Invocation's to Sumerian culture.I'm not talking about a light influence. It seems both bands truly feel this influence. What do you think?
Well you are correct to some degree concerning Invocation, but we do not pay tribute to the Hindu culture, but only one of many great cultures, ancient and obscured cultures definitely. Yes both bands are very serious about what is preached and played, I am glad you noticed, as we are but a few.
How do you balance metal and the Vedic aspect?

There is no balance to speak of. Our spiritual aspect, and flux beliefs confer emotional and trancendental influence upon our metal.

Do you know Sanskrit? Are you interested in the Vedic sacred texts as well as profane literature?
The Great Righteous Destroyer currently pits his mind to the grasping of the Vedic language, and yes of course we are interested in the texts. The Vedic texts are profane, but profane to whom? All ancient recordings are considered profane by one sect to another, by another, but who is incorrect and who speaks a whole truth?
Let's go back to your early days. Tell us about your 7" Borne and your demo "gloat". Was the Vedic influence already in your lyrics? Who released these works?
Oh dear, we are getting old aren't we?! The rehearsal demo 'Gloat' was released from our bedrooms and received great reviews from many shores. Recorded on a four track porta-studio but retaining a quality that we will never achieve again, and has become special to me. The 7" 'Borne' was our earliest studio attempts collected on a little black disc, released by Dream Sovereign Productions (Dream Sovereign were an olde Australian black metal band whom released a demo and album but have since ceased, with all members dissapearing from the scene, barre the drummer who services Nocturnes Mist). No, we were mostly unaware of Vedic archaism then.
Four tracks of your "Harbringer" work belong to the "Gloat" demo, and"Abstract flames burn white" contains stuff from the 7" Borne-Why didn't you include the other three tracks of the 7" and released a full length C.D?
What a concept! This had actually been our plan during 1995! We had planned to release something that contained the 7" tracks plus some elder nuances : 'Final Winter Kiss', 'Infernal' and 'The 69th Maggot'. The second in our drummer lineage did not learn the old material at all, as we had so much other, advanced songs to work with, even those many years ago! We will most definitely re-record and have released 'Infernal' and 'The 69th Maggot' in the nearer or farther future.

"Lust in pyramis" seems to be the only new track. It contains more Death Metal and melodic parts than the rest of the songs. Is it because it's new? Or is it the way to express something?
'Interrestrial Black Twilights' is so very death metal, moreso than Lust In Pyramis yet it exudes a jaggedness and technicality that I can see your reasoning. If you have a hand and eye on the dates supplied atop the lyrics section, you may care to note that Lust In Pyramis is not the freshest track on Harbringer. A host of tracks was in our repetoire even then, that were significantly varied, these will find sanctuary on the debut album.
I'm sure you already have new stuff for your upcoming debut C.D. Will you stay with Dies Irae prod? Do you have other offers?
Falmi!!?? No way!! He is a conniving liar and rip off!! The fellow seriously believes he is the next incarnation of Michael Jackson, and Mikey is not dead yet!! Falmi managed to shaft Impiety by allowing them to not allow him to press any more 'SkullFucking Armageddon' CD's to make his money back, plus he initially went ahead and released it on an embossed professional digipack!! What an asshole! He also payed an exorbitant amount of $US to fly Dim Mak to Florida to record in Eric Rutan's studio!! Shit! He signs crap bands and eats crap like lollipops. He forced us to sign his 'contracts', forged in Hells flames, at gun point and has guaranteed that he will pay for all our recording and release costs, and even now advertises our split CD in major fanzines/magazines the world over! He must be stopped! We have over 2 albums worth of songs, and the debut is all planned, but not surprisingly, the material is not so new! The album is entitled even now, called 'The Scream That Tore The Sky', hopefully recorded in no more than an earth year from now. Here is the order of tracks ;- ….Of The Sun, The Scream That Tore The Sky, One Will Always Feast, Insomniate Vortex, Tongues, Ye Olde Magicks, Pale Brethren, Scribe To The Forsaken Mother, Viral Spears And Shards Of Moonskin. Other labels have expressed interest since, but we will honor the

written and friendship we have with Dies Irae for now.
Dies Irae's falmi does a great job promoting bands in the Asian Continent. What is it like to work with him? What do you think of his label and the bands with him? (Impiety, Dim mak. Death of Millions)
Falmi is a workhorse, a slave to his dedication. The only problems encountered thus far have been to the geographical location and some negative aspects of dealings with those outside of the label direct. I assume the promotion would be best of all places in Asia, he has supplied advertisements in many magazines elsewhere, more than I would initially have thought. Falmi is genuine and really serves the underexposed underdogs of the metal scene, as he has a real inkling towards originality. I cannot help but respect him totally for those efforts alone. Plus any fan of Ripping Corpse is one of mine! Death Of Millions are much better than I had originally expected, and I grew fonder of the album after repeated listens. The Impiety album was impressive also, especially Falmi's drumming on that kept it that bit more interesting. I am a thorough Dim Mak fan, especially their latest material, omnipotent and godly, eight fold genius!! Eight drunk immortals bray!! Fuck yesth!! His last signing as I know it is Fly Machine, whom consist of a couple ex-members of Confessor, a technical metal band signed to Earache, probably best known from the 'Gods Of Grind' promotion many years ago.
Some sort of Australian invasion has been happening during the past years within the world of raw fast metal. Why is this? Why are the labels playing more attention to Australian bands? What are the best for you?
Maybe this question is best left for the labels to answer? It could be that they plan that Australia to be the next trend, considering it has largely been undiscovered until recently. Many metal fans seek a slight difference in their brutality nowadays, and Australian bands can provide that aspect in its own unique manner, as other countries do and can. Respectable bands here are those whom take no heed of the trends….Pagan, Anatomy, Martire, Miserys Omen, Cauldron Black Ram, Lord Of The Command, Invocation, Omnium Gatherum, Intellect Devourer, Encabulos, Jesus Anal Penetration, there art plenty others, but this is starting to look like a thanks list!
Good Underground metal is all over the world. It is very common that bands from places far from Europe and the USA (Brazil, Japan, Singapore,Australia) Come to tour there. Why do you think this is happening? What do you think of that? I shall speak for Australia if I may and any correspondence between my country and those mentioned may come to sense. Simply put, Australia is a small scene, the cities lay a huge distance betwixt each other, plus we are isolated from other scenes of which we are so fond, why would we not want to play those countries?!
Is touring Europe or USA the highest achievement for a band? Why do you think legendary bands never went there on tour?
A goal for a band, but the achievement holds no special esteem to the band simply because of their travel. Great inspiring musick that will last the ears of ages is a true achievement. Some legendary bands may not have made the money, or organisational skills or desire to tour Europa or the U.S.A. Shiva knows I do!!
You have a great web page, and I got in touch with you for this interview through E-mail, However you asked me to send you the interview via snail mail, in a letter. Do you have anything against E-mails or PC's? Do you miss going to your P.O.box, picking up your hand written letters, and keeping them? Does this high technology and human automation get to you in anyway?
My appeal for written mail was only that I have no reliable e-mail access. I must stress that I cannot bear to sit placated in front of a radiation box of a computer much longer than two hours, so yes, I prefer the pen. And I must admit to that excitement whence my PO Box is opened! Especially when kick ass packages are overflowing! I worry only for the averse health aspects of the computer, like mobile phones, the producing companies have conveniently left those details they know so very well, away from the consumers. What does the name Stargazer mean to you? Looking at stars.
Well, thank you for your time, bid us farewell, and give us some parting words. This exposure you grant us is exceeding courtesy, and I thank you for your effort!! Furthermore, thy site is grand! I salute you brother! I have the StarGazer/Invocation for sale at $10 U.S. p.p.d and stickers are to be distributed very soon and can be demanded through a letter to us.
