"Tribute To The Supreme Beast" has shown that the beast is living among us, and from time to time takes possession of some of its servants on earth to have them pay tribute in the way the beast likes it the most: Blaspheme infernal music. One of those servants is called LEVIFER and comes from Perú. Lord Levifer going to tell us why him has been the choosen.
The beast needed a tribute and you have shown your respect. The beast is surely celebrating, what about the reaction among the mortals?

The origins of LEVIFER go back to 1996 when you, Jose and Luis decided to commence your great battle. Was your music style different then?
Sometime in 1996 , i decided to start this band with Jose (drums) and any basic musical skills we had at the time, Luis also joined the horde, 2 other members were recruited in 1998 to complete the line-up. Later, Jose and i remained from that line-up and decided to record the "Tribute To The Supreme Beast" demo (1999-2000). Our metal has always been raw but we have developed our own sound through the years, which is reflected in each of our songs.
You didn’t have a name until 1998 when new members arrive and take the name INFERNAL. The new band, and the new members didn’t last long. What happened? Was it too difficult to stay as a five piece band?
We chose INFERNAL along with the other members back then. The recruits joined the horde in 1998 and left the same year, we had differences in the lyrics direction and band policy.
You and Jose stay, and change the name to LEVIFER. You two recorded "Tribute To Supreme Beast", You on vocals, guitar and bass and Jose in Drums. The way you handle guitar and bass is very unique, and create some raw segments,and others showing great technique. Why didn’t you look for other musicians, and decided to do most things yourself? Aren’t there any musicians in Lima good enough to understand your blasphemy?
Once we settled for LEVIFER as our name in the war against god, we decide to record all our blasphemy spawned along the years. I just did what i could in the bloody guitar and bass, i might be able to find "musicians", but what i need are warriors with dark souls to join to LEVIFER
Where did you record "Tribute To The Supreme Beast"? The whole production is excellent, way better than any demo, what other Peruvian bands have recorded there?
The tribute was recorded at the studio of our friend Miguel , we used to rehearse there. We didn’t have any high-tech stuff for this recordings. It’s an 8-channel analog recordings we used a Tascam. The masters were done in another studio. That’s how we achieved the raw , sick sound we wanted. No effects at all. I think we’re the only black horde of death that have recorded there.
This demo was released by your own label Devil Arts Prods. Weren’t other labels interested in releasing it? Didn’t you send promos? Is this a way to mo polize everything around LEVIFER.
Right¡¡¡ There was monopoly in LEVIFER¡¡¡haa, i never sent anything to anyone before vomiting this demo. The devil is interested and focused on black metal of death. Extreme metal. Every kind of sick stuff is welcomed for production and distribution
The lyrics on this work are totally directed to satanism and blasphemy. Are these simply lyrics from a servant of the beast or the beast itself in the form of Lord Levifer?

Have you tried any of the ancient drugs like AYAHUASCA or YAGE (plant of Masters) in order to reach higher levels of beign and expand your interest and knowledge of the occult arts? Could these experiences be reflected in a future album?

You recorded a rehearsal in 1998 and was distributed within a very close circle of fans. Out of the five songs on this rehearsal, you choose one to be included in this new demo. What happened to the other songs?
Those tracks were under construction, no lyrics, they are included in the demo.

Jose and i are cousins, Leo’s (Ex- Disinter Vocals) last name is Navarrete, he is not related to us.
I’m sure there are many fans, including myself, who would like to see LEVIFER in concert. Is there any chance of this happening? Have you thought about getting some guest musicians?

All music aspects are carefully elaborated on this "Tribute To The Supreme Beast" however your work on vocals is just terrifying. Right from the intro your voice sounds very raw, it’s full of a dark morbid feeling, sometimes is very deep and the it goes back to screaming. How do you work on vocals? How do you mantain that raw sound while recording?
Nothing was planned , everything is natural , no effects distorting these odes of darkness.
Songs like "My Lord Of Darkness" , "Levifer" and "Infernal Crypt" display morbid melodic segments, what bands inspires you? Each riff i create aims for darkness and blasphemy , i don’t rely on any other bands.

What old Peruvian bands , or from anywhere have influenced the sound of LEVIFER?
Among the Insane hordes i respect (in his kult times) i could to mention SARCOFAGO, SEPULTURA, DEATH,IMPALER, DEICIDE, AUTOPSY, ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, HYPOCRISY, SODOM, KREATOR, DESTRUCTION, PROFANATICA,PENTAGRAM, EXPULSER,HOLOCAUSTO, CHAKAL, BRUTAL DISTORTION, MYSTIFIER, THE TRUE MAYHEM, BLASPHEMY, BEHERIT, i also have to mention the hordes supporting this holocaust CONQUEROR, BLACK WITCHERY,THORNSPAWN, KRIEG, BLOOD STORM, ABSU,IMPIETY, DESASTER,NIFELHEIM arggggg ¡¡¡¡¡¡ pure fucking black destruction.
Is LEVIFER a way to show that the legacy and magic of the cruel blasphemic South American sound is still alive?

The booklet of this demo contains pictures of you only, why wasn’t Jose included in the pics? Isn’t he a member of the band since the beggining?
Jose left the band for personal reasons, he doesn’t care about the pics and stuff.
The cover shows you in full make- up, and covered in spikes and nails, it looks primitive and dirty, and that’s the way it should look. What do you think of bands that look as if they had gone to the hair stylist , and then had chosen the prettiest, most shinning spikes to wear, and then to make things worse, their music is some trendy shit? What about the bands that have stopped doing this?
Metal is about ugly, raw , extreme stuff, the rest is just shit (totally correct ED). The make-up is a declaration of war. Those who have stopped using it, is their problem.
How much alcohol (pisco and chupa) do you consume on a weekend?
’Till we vomit black.
Let’s talk about your other project: GOAT SEMEN. Well known metalwarrior Erick Neyra (Temple Of damned Mag) also plays with the band. Who started this band? Give me some details? (We’ll be publishing an interview with GOAT SEMEN in a upcoming issue ED )
We started GOAT SEMEN in 2000 after leaving BLACK ANGEL for their incompetence. Named our Horde after our first song ever writen :GOAT SEMEN. It will be included in our upcoming selftitled demo. You can count on true death destruction. LEVIFER walk the path of Morbid darkness, the GOAT relishes on destruction.
LEGION OF DEATH RECS will be releasing a LEVIFER / GOAT SEMEN split EP.. Are these previously unreleased songs? Is the label interested in producing a full album by any of the 2 bands?
The split will feature four Hymns of sheer Evil. There are several labels interested in releasing our sickness on different formats.
European Magazines and label Managers speak wonders of the South American scene, however very few ( almost none) help release an album, EP or demo by a S.A band, why do you think is that? Would the South American Scene be dead if it wasn’t for the S.A labels?
The scene around the world is interested in SUDACAS vomits and i’m sure it’ll grow and more labels will sign bands. On the other hand, there have been underground warriors who always appreciated the hordes coming out this part of the world.
Then again, if it wasn’t for the European fans, the South American labels wouldn’t survive and many bands wouldn’t get any recognition, how do you explain this?
We just give them the true brutality they can’t produce themselves, maybe with a few exceptions.
Having released such a great brutal demo , don’t you feel some pressure to release a much better work next time? Many bands have failed to match the power of their first release?
Metalmaniacs can only expect chaos and dark noise from LEVIFER. We are condemned to black destruction, the next release will be rawer and brutal?
The scene in Lima is very active, you show a lot of support to the bands and eventhough you don’t get many (or any) visits by foreign bands, you still keep on doing brutal shows with local bands, and great demos/albums keep on coming out of there. I think after the Brazilian scene , Peru’s is one of the rawest, most brutal scenes in South america, what do you think?
I think some of the bands are interesting.
Terrorism, poverty, violence, extreme social differencess etc..etc these are matters that no many S.A bands approach, instead many of the are playing gothic, viking ??, power and other pretty shit, are these bands killing the scene? What should be done about them?
They are condemned to die along with their trendshit. True metal will always prevail.
LEVIFER and GOAT SEMEN are all for war and destruction, do you somehow miss the terrorism of MRTA, and SENDERO LUMINOSO (Almost defunct guerrilla groups) Would you like see them active once again? What would had happened to metal in Peru if one of those communist groups has seized the power? I’m asking this because here in colombian we have communist guerrillas on one side and the other we have extreme right groups trying to overthrow the government, if this happens i’m sure metal and metalheads in Colombia will be in serious problems?
Those hordes are needed to be a balancing factor in our lands. Underground metal will stay no matter who is in power. We create black terror for your destruction.
