Hey Kosta, how’s everything with KAAMOS are you ready for your album’s
release?

Hello to yourself Claros. Everything with Kaamos is as it should be, and the album has already been released by now, so I don’t await its release date.
Where did you record? What’s the name of the album? Do you mantain
the same line-up of “Curse of Aeons”
We recorded it in SubSonic which is the same studio that we used for the “Curse of Aeons” tape. The album is simply titled Kaamos and yes the line is the same as on the “Curse of Aeons”. This is a very strong line-up, probably the strongest I’ve ever experienced so I doubt that any changes will ever occur.
I was surprised when you signed with Candlelight. Did you receive others
offers?
Yeah we were a bit surprised that they were interested in us as well. Mainly because we never thought that they signed Death Metal, plus we never really had any contact previous to them approaching us. And yes we received several offers from different labels ranging from very small to rather big. But Candlelight was our cup of blood.
As I recall, the only death metal acts with Candlelight are KAAMOS and CENTINEX how do you see their interest in signing death metal bands?
There are more Death Metal bands coming soon I believe, Yattering I heard was recently signed to them. My impression with Candlelight is that they have an interest in quality instead of quantity, which is very simulair to our ideas on pretty much everything, I don’t have any specific view on their interest in signing Death Metal bands. But I do believe as earlier stated, that they are interested in quality, and this applies to Death, Black, etc…. I think you get the picture.
About the past, what does KAAMOS “mean”? Why did you choose that name for the band? (You probably hate this kind of question , but I think it’s important?
Kaamos is generally associated with Darkness. And refers to that as well. Before deciding on the moniker we had a couple to choose from and we already had rehearsed on a couple of occasions before deciding to finally settle for Kaamos. It has a suggestive force that we believe gives the band a certain aura which can’t be dismissed. So in other words I think it is perfect, for us that is.
What other bands have you played in? Where you with “A mind Confused” (RIP)?
Yes I have a past in AMC and also in a couple of other bands, Pagan Sanctum, Gods of Grief, and more, but the first mentioned one would be most known of them.
If I’m not wrong, Nicklas is with “Serpent Obscene” and Karl does vocals
for REVOKATION (great band), are they still with these bands?
Nicklas is with Serpent Obscene yes. However Revokation is a weird story. nd I don’t know what happens with them. They haven’t rehearsed for over a year and none of the members really have any answers or ideas about it either.
I think the “Curse of Aeons” demo is excellent. Are you happy with it?
Yes we are very pleased with it. I personally think it is a proof of how strong we are as band when having in mind all the shit that happened to us during the period between the first recordings and the “Curse of Aeons” tape. So it is a personal victory as well, if you will.
How’s your relation with Dauthus? (Released KAAMOS 7” E.P and designed the C.O.A demo)
He has also done all the lay out for the debut full-length. We are very good friends with him and have been before the birth of Kaamos. He is one hell of an artist and I won’t hesitate to say that he is the fifth member of Kaamos.
A feeling of obscurity is kept in your music as well as the in the design and presentation of your work. Is this essential for a death metal band?
This is the way that we like it and that is what once attracted my interest to the genre of Death and Black Metal. I mean today, the majority of bands have a visual outlook of what could be compared to a very bad PC adventure game. And the sound is not so far away either, using all the modern shit equipment for drums that make ‘em sound like a bloody awful Nintendo game. We know what we want the visuals to resemble and give an impression of. And we know that musick, especially in this genre, has an original idea and form that you can’t dismiss, ignore or overlook.
Your music is sheer merciless death metal. Why do you think bands are so interested in playing this type of music, again? Will this become a trend?
I don’t really believe that there are so many new bands that play this style. However since there has been a shift of focus to these bands it might appear like it. Although I have noticed a lot more support for this musick than there was a couple of years back. However I don’t think it will become a trend. If it will, it will only be a small one that hopefully goes by unnoticed by the ones who spoiled Death and Black Metal.
When playing death metal “The old way”, aren’t you sacrificing originality?
Nope I do not think that we sacrifice originality. But then again originality has never been an aim par se for Kaamos. Our interest lies in doing good strong death metal songs. Originality comes as you find your style, and know what it is that defines your band. And I certainly won’t chase originality with Kaamos for the sake of waking up one day, be the most original “Death” Metal band, and find out that to reach that spot exactly what I have sacrificed was what came to define Kaamos as a DEATH metal.
I think your sound is similar to UNLEASHED in the early days? What do
you think? What do you think their comeback album?
I do not agree with you on that one. I gave up on Unleashed when they release their third album, Across the sea (?). I haven’t heard the new one, but the ones who have and share my taste said that it is awful. And not surprisingly I believe them.
I think your name reflects some Greek roots. Do you know Greece? What relates you to this country?
My father was from Hellas, and I do not speak it, although I know some phrases.
Speaking of your album debut. Are going to do any promotour?
Not that I know of. There was a tour spoken of but we were cancelled. Maybe some new opportunities will come but nothing that I am aware of now.
Will KAAMOS music show some changes in the future?
Some perhaps since we do evolve. But rest assured that it will still be Kaamos.
Who designs your web page? How much input does the band give the site?
The web page is handled by Dauthus. And we work out the ideas together. As I said, he is like the fifth member so we have very similair taste and ideas on how to design it.
Are you listening to music while answering these questions? What ban, Lp?
Not really, well, the radio is on in the background. I am at work you see. Talk about having the right priorities.
Hey how was the experience of work with messiah Marcolin like a productor (He´s a legend for me?
He was easy to work with and very down to earth. It was a surprise cause we didn’t know that he was going to assist. And he was an engineer.
Final words, tell us something about the future of KAAMOS?
Thanks for your support J. Claros The future of Kaamos is written with darkness heresy and death.
