SKYCLAD
"Another Fine Mess"
(Demolition Recs)
This band is ( or was , i’m not sure if he’s with them anymore) the one started by MARTIN WALKYER , singer of British  Gods SABBAT. This album contains a variety  of live songs and rare tracks  taken from their “Outrageous Fortunes” Ep. The 9 tracks recorded live are from their appereance in the 95 Dynamo Open Air and belong to their Nosie Records years. SKYCLAD is widely known in Europe , but raher unknown in this side of the  world ( i had listened to some mp3 but this is the first time tha i listen to a full cd). They  play folk-heavy metal including keyboards and violin, but i don’t mean folk-heavy meatl as the one played by some gay power metal bands RHAPSODY type of band. First of all Martin Walkyer’s voice is really unique , powerful and live sounds totally agressive and epic, just as it should be, the use of keyboards and violin to play this traditional  heavy metal  is just rright. I think  SKYCLAD  have really  developed their own sound  , very heavy  and with feeling, the last three songs on the “Outrageous Fortunes” ep show a more symphonic side of SKYCLAD. You  even hear some 70’s psychodelia in their music, i think they sound just  like KANSAS. For those  who don’t know SKYCLAD this cd is just right to get to know them , if you already  listen to their music well, get the live , meanwhile i’ll start loooking around for their previous works
